Let’s get ready for a weekend
A Little Something for the Weekend
You made it to Friday — that's the whole headline this week. Between the early alarms, the last-minute homework hunts, and whatever surprise came home in a backpack this week, getting everyone through five school days is its own kind of accomplishment.
The weekend doesn't need a schedule to be a good one. Take what you need from this list, skip the rest, and let the next two days be whatever kind of easy or full they need to be. 🌤️
Something to do together
🕺 Try This: Family Silent Disco
Everyone grabs headphones (real or pretend) and picks their own song to dance to — at the same time, in the same room. The fun is watching everyone move to a completely different beat with zero coordination. If you don't have enough headphones, take turns being the DJ who plays a surprise song for 30 seconds while everyone has to dance to it live. It's silly, it's low effort to set up, and it almost always turns into a laughing fit.
One Small Organization Win
📚 Sunday Night Prep: The Library Book Roundup
Take five minutes on Sunday to gather up any borrowed books — library books, classroom books, anything on loan — and stack them by the door or in a bag ready to go back. It's a small habit, but it heads off the frantic Monday-morning search (and the inevitable late fee or "I don't know where it went" conversation). Bonus: it's an easy job to hand off to a kid who wants to feel helpful.
Game to play together
🎴 Game Night Idea: Blink
A fast-paced card matching game where two players race to get rid of their cards first by matching shape, color, or count. Rounds usually take under a minute, which makes it perfect for squeezing in "just one more game" without eating the whole evening. Great for kids who don't have the patience for long games, and honestly pretty addictive for adults too.
What they’re saying
🗣️ What They're Saying: "Fanum Tax"
If your kid says a friend "fanum taxed" their fries, they mean the friend took some of their food without asking — like an unofficial tax collected by whoever's hungriest. It comes from a streamer's name and has since turned into general shorthand for "someone snagged some of my food." Mostly harmless, occasionally the source of real sibling outrage.
Trivia for the family

Things worth knowing
✨ Fun Facts to Share
Science: Sea otters often hold hands while sleeping in the water — it keeps them from drifting apart from their group while they nap.
Language Arts: The longest common English word you can type using only your left hand on a standard keyboard is "stewardesses."
That's It for This Week
However this week actually went — five smooth mornings or a slightly chaotic blur of missing shoes and last-minute forms — you got everyone where they needed to be, and that's the whole job.
Some weekends will be packed with plans. Others will be pajamas until noon and nothing on the calendar. Both are valid ways to spend two days, and neither one needs to be "productive" to count.
Whatever this weekend looks like, you don't have to earn it. 🍃
